Personal brand photographers, do you ever struggle to find the best indoor photoshoot locations? If so, this post is for you! I know deciding where to shoot branding sessions isn't always easy. However, I’ve been in this business for a while now, and I’ve figured out some of the most important things to look for in any potential location. And I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you!

One of the best things about having built a successful brand photography business is getting to use what I know to help other photographers reach their business goals. If you are new to brand photography or are growing your business, I’d love to support you! My website has some great resources, including my own brand photographer’s session planning template. Also, I offer mentorship opportunities for photographers who need one-on-one guidance.

Now, without further ado, let’s get to the list!

HOW TO FIND THE BEST INDOOR PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS: TOP 3 THINGS TO LOOK FOR

1. Versatility

The best locations for brand photography sessions are the ones that give you a variety of backdrop options. Make sure the space you choose has lots of different places for you to position your subject. Click here to learn more about getting a variety of images from your brand shoots.

2. Light

Be sure you have good natural light in any space you want to shoot in, and think about what the light will be doing during your session time. If the natural light is limited, be sure what light you do have coming in doesn't create harsh shadows to one side. When in doubt, bring an off-camera flash or continuous light to compensate for less-than-ideal lighting conditions.

3. Aesthetic

Ensure the vibe of the location is right for your client’s brand. This can be make or break! The most important part of what we do as brand photographers is bringing our client’s vision and overall brand image to life. So, make sure you consider the brand’s whole image when you evaluate a location’s aesthetic.

Bonus Tip

I like to use Home Studio List and Peerspace to help me find the best indoor photoshoot locations. These sites both let you search for photo-friendly rentable locations in your area. Ultimately, knowing what to look for and having the right tools can make finding the right place for your next branding photography session so much easier!
